macOS (iMac 2021) monterey restarting

Does anyone have the same issue that their computer, even while in Sleep mode, is restarting and closing out of all applications and my login? I was having the same problem with on my old 2009 iMac running 10.13.6 (High Sierra) which I just replaced because I couldn't update it anymore.

I find this more than a little bit ridiculous that a brand new computer with updated OS wants to take a dirt nap at least once a day.

Hello there MulliganStew68,

I understand you've noticed that your iMac seems to restart as it is in sleep mode, so let's see if we're able to offer some suggestions to resolve this.

To get started, be sure that you have the latest version of macOS installed on your iMac as it may have come preinstalled with macOS Monterey 12.0 as opposed to macOS Monterey 12.0.1. If you see that you need to update, be sure you have a recent backup of information. For help with either of these steps, check out the following resources:

Back up your Mac with Time Machine

Update macOS on Mac

Once you've confirmed that you're up to date, take a look at your Energy Saver preferences to see if any can be adjusted to prevent this from occurring. For assistance with these preferences, take a look at the following resource:

Change Energy Saver preferences on a Mac desktop computer

If there aren't any adjustments to be made, it may be best to Contact Apple Support to look into this in more detail.

Have a great day!

MulliganStew68,

Thanks for the follow-up!

With the screenshots you provided, these settings do seem to be what would be commonly used. As these can be adjusted, it may be ideal to adjust any to test and see what the results would be for you. In addition to this, it would be recommended to restart your iMac at times to see if that prevents this from occurring if you don't typically restart or shut down. For help with that, use this resource:

Shut down or restart your Mac

If you still experience this after adjustments, it would be best to Contact Apple Support to follow up to see if there is anything that can be looked into in detail with your iMac specifically.

Cheers!
