Can I use Apple Gift Card for Repair apple products? In store or send-in

I searched online. Most answer saying I can use Apple gift card to repair Apple product. However, when I try to schedule a replacement on Apple website. representative tell me I cannot use gift card as payment to repair. I have to use credit card. I got the same response after switching to next agent.

I'm quite curious about this fact. Is there anything new that Apple change the policy?

Or I have to visit an Apple Store to use gift card in-store to repair my products?

But it's unclear as long as in my view. It didn't clearly states whether you can or can not use gift card for specific service.

I'm going to contact a local Apple store, about three hours driving from my home, to ask whether they can accept gift card as payment. Anyway, it's sad that I can not directly get a replacement online.

Thanks for your reply, I've talked with Apple support by phone.

The representative transferred me to a senior adviser in Apple. The senior adviser tell me I can't use apple gift card for repair online as far as what he known. Because the online system for repairing don't support gift card as payment method. However, local Apple Stores might have other options. He told me that Apple Store can checkout at kiosk instead of online system, that might help. It depends.

In summary, using gift card for repair service, online, no. In store, might be OK, but I haven't checked because I don't want to drive more than 1 hour. Hopefully my experience is helpful for anyone have same questions.

You're right, Apple is not clear about this. I posted the following information in a similar topic recently but it was not recommended over a an unsubstantiated reply where somebody said you cannot. Possibly that person will post again here saying the same but I have yet to see where Apple says clearly you cannot (isn't it a "service"?). I take the glass half full perspective on this, but the glass half empty posts seem to get recommended. I guess until you find somebody from Apple who says you can then you had better assume not.
