How to update safari for old mcOS

I am not updating the macOS because of the space issues on old MacBook air. When tried to update Safari, Apple does not have an option but asks to update the macOS. One has no option except to but a new machine despite the old one working absolutely fine. Any suggestions?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.14

You are correct. The only way to update Safari is to install a newer operating system (an upgrade). Your best option is to install another browser such as Firefox or one of the many others which are available on the Apple App Store site. They can be individually updated. However, it is possible that some may not work with your older OS.
