2022 Kia Rio won't connect to CarPlay

The bluetooth connects, so I can hear music and make calls, but it continues to say unable to connect to CarPlay. I've tried the troubleshooting listed here, but phone projection just doesn't seem to work. Can't tell if it's the iphone or the car.

iPhone SE, iOS 14
