Verizon claims my Find My iPhone is on, but I've shut it off. I've tried many options, including reseting all my settings and nothing seems to work.

iPhone X, iOS 15

We finally figured out the solution to the odd situation and hope it helps someone. My wife, mother-in-law, and I are all on the same family plan. We upgraded all our iPhones online, in one individual order, on Black Friday. To do so, we first all had to shut Find My iPhone off to even be able to order them. Skip ahead two weeks to when we received our phones, somehow my wife’s Find My iPhone was turned back on (Not sure if it was the IOS update released during this window or what). When you order multiple phones in ONE order, they all must get activated at one time, at least with Verizon. My wife’s Find My iPhone somehow being back on is what was causing the issue and not allowing me to activate what I thought was just my new phone. Moral of the story, just don’t order multiple phones in one individual order. No one from Verizon told us how much it complicates everything, but by the loud, annoyed sigh from the associate on the phone, it’s obviously an issue.

I do not know the history behind your issue, however, I am not sure what Verizon is looking at to determine that Find My is set to ON on your iPhone when the iPhone is in your possession.

On your iPhone, open Settings ➔ Apple ID (Your Name at Top) ➔ Find My ➔ Find My iPhone: Set this to OFF.

Question: Why is Verizon asking you to set Find My to OFF? Is this to get your iPhone ready for a trade-in? If YES, then review this guide published by Apple ➔ What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your Mac - Apple Support
