Silicon M1 MacBook Pro Screen Profile/Calibration Issues

I’ve just received my M1 16” MacBook Pro and am trying to calibrate the screen (something I do with every screen for photography purposes) and whilst the screen calibration in the Apple XDR is pretty good it’s not perfect, however I’m finding the Photography profile is pretty much spot on. However there is one big issue with this profile, you can’t change the brightness level. Now in an ideal world you would have a set screen brightness level, however using a laptop in different lighting conditions is not the “ideal” and requires the alteration of screen brightness from time to time.

I normally calibrate my screens with the x-rite i1Display Pro however this is not working well with the new MacBook and I’m questioning its full compatibility. Also, calibrations don’t appear in the list alongside the Apple profiles.

At present my workaround is create several custom profiles based on the Apple Photography one but saving them with different brightness levels, to change the brightness level I can then click the display options in the menu bar, open up the drop down and then choose one of the saved brightness levels. Not great and a bit of a fudge, but it’ll have to do for now.

Does anyone know if you can unlock the ability to change brightness with the different Apple profiles (only the top two options allow brightness to be altered), or calibrate the Apple XDR profile to match the Photography one please?
