How does MackBoll charger adapter work?

The MacBook charger that came with my MB comes apart. I just discovered this because a storm knocked my power and I’m trying to figure out how to charge it . Can somebody please explain what this “adapter” is for? It obviously looks like the small piece with the standard plug prongs, goes into a regular wall electrical outlet, but the other connection on it, appears to be the kind that looks like a pair of binoculars on the side of it. Lol- I don’t know names of this stuff so bare with me. How can I charge my MacBook without this cord OR adjust the adapter to make it compatible with a USB??

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.4

The power adapter is designed so that the plug prongs can be changed for different countries. For example see https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MD837AM/A/apple-world-travel-adapter-kit

That part can also be removed and replaced with an extension cord: https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MK122LL/A/power-adapter-extension-cable

You don't say what model year your MacBook Pro is so I don't know if the cord that comes with it in a MagSafe (magnetic connection to the Mac) or a USB-C -- however if you are asking if you can charge it from a standard USB power outlet, no -- that would not provide nearly enough power for any MacBook Pro.
