20th Anniversary Mac - Blank Screen
I have a 20th anniversary mac that worked. I tried to adding some RAM and a USB PCI card. When I restarted it, the screen was blank. I know the following things...
It chimes.
The fans and HDD's come to life. CD will spin if one is in there.
The light under the subwoofer/power supply is green.
I can't get it to zap the PRAM (won't keep chiming when I hold down P,R,OPTION,APPLE)
I have put back in the original RAM and took out the PCI card. Still nothing.
I was grounded when I was working on it.
I had to push very hard to get the RAM to set in. Broke something?
Took it apart and didn't see anything obvious wrong (LCD cable still connected).
Added a new Clock battery (DIY with half a 9volt. Hooked Red to positive).
Tried holding down the power button on the back and then it wouldn't even chime.
Pushed the black button on the logic board (just below the main fan) and the chime started back up but no screen. Tried holding down the black button. No help.
If it's the LCD, is it true these use the same screens at the Powerbook 5300C? Those aren't too expensive on the electronic bay. Also wonder if the RAM was the wrong voltage (they came in 3.3 and 5v. This is suppose to have 5).
Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom. I collect old macs and use them to show pics of my family. I never got to use this one. I was trying to upgrade to 9.1 for a better screensaver and I'm bummed I did this to the newest member of the family!
