if fake serial number was ?
Yoda speak? Is this supposed to read "if serial number was fake?"
If so, I don't know. I put my iPhone's serial number in at Apple's service check site and it shows as valid. If I changed the value of a couple digits or letters, it just didn't register as a valid item.
That's really all a "fake" serial number can tell you. It won't show up as a valid number.
And as imobl has now said twice, walk away from the sale if they won't open the box to confirm there actually is a iPad inside. There was one post here sometime back where a seller had put a flat rock in the box that weighed the same as an iPad, and re-shrinkwrapped the box to make it appear as if it had never been opened.
If in doubt, walk away from the sale. Unopened box is not
guarantee the iPad is inside.
Unactivated means the iPad has not been setup for use.
One thing you can do, check the serial number here:
Check Your Service and Support Coverage - Apple Support
As stated above, only buy devices from trusted sources.
Yes, there are fake iPads and iPhones. Have been for years. They're usually pretty easy to spot as they are badly made. The OS underneath is almost always the Android OS with the interface modified to look like iOS.
Fastest way to spot a fake. Try to use Siri, connect with iTunes, or connect with the App Store. A fake cannot do any of these.
Fake serial numbers would give you an error message as such
fakes would not pass Apple's internal verification process.
That being said, legitimate serial number on a sealed box
is no guarantee of what is inside. You seem concerned about
the genuineness of the deal - best advice is to walk away from it.
Buy from reliable sources: Apple itself or Apple authorized iPad retailer.
What is the source of this iPad you are considering? What is the
seller's return policy?
iPads cannot be "Fake". They can be set up incorrectly, but they cannot be falsely manufactured
Never in the history of Apple has there been a fake iPad. The iPad in question is physically legitimate. However, as far as software goes, it could have activation lock enabled, or could have some other physical issues.
Sorry, should have clarified, I meant there's never been a fully functioning iPad that is fake.
As explained above by imobl, unactivated simply means it hasn't been set up yet. Has nothing to do with the item being genuine or not.
You’re totally right!
Are you 100% sure about this?
No problem, CrzyBoy777.
As I mentioned… it shows that this iPad is unactivated or something like that.
so I was thinking about that if is fake says this or is for real…
Thanks for understanding, Kurt.
My point is, will it show the same status if fake serial number was ?
