Security applications

I've recently been recommended an app called 'Webroot' and I'm using it. I've also got 'Malwarebytes. Should I still use it or not? Please advise me.

Thank.

That one is fine to keep.

It can and should be configured ( from within the Application Preferences ) to not always be running.

There is no need for it to do so and consumers CPU and Memory for no good purpose.

Just us it when there is a definite reason like suspicious behaviours on the computer or / and after installing software from a Not Trusted Source ( which should never be done ).

1 - I will not comment Directly on " THE APPLE HELP ADVISER WHO TOLD ME I NEEDED TO INSTALL WEBROOT "

2 - There are no known Windows-like Viruses in the wild that self replicate and affect macOS, because of the underling UNIX  Foundation and Permission Limitation. The The Built in Security  is all that is required to protect the computer.

3 - Are there any AntiVirus, Disk Cleaner, Optimizers, Un-installers, etc installed which should be removed as per Developers Instructions. They are useless, unneeded, cause havoc and interfere with the normal operation of the OS and may even Corrupt the OS requiring a Reinstallation.

4 - From whomever the "Webroot " was purchased from would have to contacted Directly to explore a Refund

" Webroot " strongly suggest Removing it as per the Developers Specific Instructions.

I don't know who told you that but I suspect it was not anyone from Apple.

The reason you can't install the Alexa app on your Mac is because Amazon doesn't make a Mac version of the app, only an iOS (iPhone, iPad) and Windows versions of the app.

You've said to uninstall the "Webroot" but I need to explain about it.

I've been given one of the little devices called "Alexa" and it kept telling me to download and open the "Alexa App" on my "home screen'"? I tried doing that on my iMac desktop computer but I got a "Safari cannot open.......etc. message so I phoned up the Apple helpline and it was THE APPLE HELP ADVISER WHO TOLD ME I NEEDED TO INSTALL WEBROOT to overcome the problem!

I followed the APPLE HELPLINE advisors suggestion and so I've paid for two years subscription of Webroot!

If I uninstall Webroot will I get my money back or is it lost forever? And why was it that Apple Help themselves who recommended it?

I'm very confused by all the conflicting advice I've received. Can you please help?
