Photo scan on new Mac

people scan has stalled on my Mac about half way through scanning photos. It's been two weeks since the scan started but now the numbers scanned has remained unaltered for days. Also the photos in the people option on my iPad are not in sync with the Mac. Not sure even how to view people on my iPhone. How to boot the scan along? How to get devices in sync? How to view people option on iPhone.?
