If the Printer is AirPrint compatible you don't need to do anything. If its connected to the same Wi-Fi network it should automatically appear as an option when printing from any App. AirPrint compatible Printer list: link-> About AirPrint - Apple Support


If its not AirPrint compatible, you will need to find drivers for it from HP for the version of macOS your MacBook Air is running.

You can alternatively try to install it manually by connecting it to your computer, and then going to System Preferences->Printers & Scanners. Click on the + icon on the left side of the screen and see if it detects the Printer.
