Why won’t my iPhone let me unlock with the number code anymore? Always asks for a different password. Annoying!

A wor / written password. There’s no keypad. It resulted in me being locked out of my phone for 3 days! I had never set a word- based code. It’s super annoying with the face mask scenario - with the number pad it’s easy to unlock but takes ages when I have to type in a word code. Help!
I tried to do this but it won’t let me input a number code .. keeps saying it is too easy to guess. The box is oblong too, like a text box - not a dial pad which it always used to be. So I can change it but only to a word phrase. I’m really confused …! any other help?
Do you have a work email set up on your phone? If so, your work's IT department is likely enforcing the full word requirement for your passcode. If you remove the email, you should be able to use just numbers.

Ahhhhh …. Yes! I set this up on my phone and that’s when I got locked out for 3 days as I didn’t know what the code was!! Thank you for solving this!!
