After 15.1 and 15.2 update my power button no longer gives shutdown slider with long press. Lock, wake, and screenshot all still work. Apple support showed me the button sequence quick press +, Quick press -, long press power and this works but isn’t a fix. Anyone else having this issue?

Correct; a long-press of the top button will not trigger the shut-down slider.
To fully shut down your iPad, the easiest method is from iPad Settings:
Settings > General > Shut Down
Perhaps, I have siri disabled so haven’t had siri activate on long press.
Also long press power and + or - also works for shutdown slider.
Perhaps because a long-press of the top button is now used to summon the Siri assistant…?
Otherwise, I have no idea; Apple do not share the rationale of their design decisions.

Say what you will, but even Apple themselves call it a "Top Button", or "Side Button".. not a "Power Button". Perhaps that is because it has nothing to do with cycling power? Old habits die hard, I guess.
Why would they removed this feature?
The name of the button should give a clue; it is called “Top Button”, not “Power Button”.. it’s just a button and has nothing to do with power cycling, though it was once used for that purpose.
