iOS Update 1 Failed Passcode "not" Attempted

So through the various iOS updates with my iPhone Xr. I've notice something strange. With each new iOS update, I have something weird happening with my passcode. So, when I get to the update screen and select download and install the new update, the next screen requires me to enter my passcode. But the strange thing is, it says a have "1 failed passcode attempt" without me trying to enter my passcode yet. It's just immediately 1 failed passcode attempt on the next screen.

Software 15.6 update 15.6 update did not update automatically, usually not a problem until I hit install now and had to sign in using passcode.. What is broke is I have.an 8 digit code and the update is only 6. I tried using the first 6 and that did not work. I can’t imagine I am the only one having this issue. Ie I have an iPhone 12 pro.
