Redacting personal info from bank statement in Dec 2021

I have saved my statement as a PDF; In Preview I have tried to redact my account number; A dialog box opens requiring a Password...but no password works...

WTF???

Is this an Adobe vs Apple thing? I no longer use Adobe ...too difficult recently... Does anyone have the answer to this irritating puzzle...
