Airpods Won't Enter Pairing Mode

I am trying to connect my airpods to my new computer but they don't seem to pop up on the screen where I need to select and add them. When I press and hold the back button down to pair, the light stays green for a bit then turns off. I was able to connect my friends Airpods to my laptop no problem.

I disconnected my Airpods from my phone and now they won't connect because they won't enter pairing mode.
