If there's a newer version of it compatible with Sierra(the maximum for that OS is 12.1.2), install any Safari, OS, or security updates listed in the Mac App Store's Updates tab. Otherwise, upgrade the OS or switch to a product such as Firefox.
A Mac running Sierra can be upgraded at least as far as High Sierra.
