iMac (2021) refuses to respond to sleep button in the Apple menu
New iMac (3 months) refuses to go to sleep when I click on Sleep button in the Apple menu. Anybody got a solution?
Thank you,

Sleeping the iMac isn’t necessary, just let it switch off the display on timer. Disable Sleep in Energy Preferences too, it’s unnecessary on later Macs, all pain, no gain. Shut for long absences i.e. > 2 hours. To disable, check “Prevent…” in Energy Preferences and uncheck everything else. You can leave the display off time as is, unrelated to Sleep.

Sorry for the delay in replying. I have been unwell and in hospital. I am now bypassing the sleep button. Amazes me that Apple have it there if it doesn't work.
Sorry to hear, but also happy that the problem is solved. Take care.
