new iPad email set issues

just bought a new iPad air and followed quick setup using my iPhone and iCloud backup. everything seems good except for getting gmail activated. I did go to the app store and downloaded the Gmail app, but I want gmail to work in "mail" not sending or receiving.

AOL, Yahoo, Google, Microsoft all use App Specific Passwords when using anything other than their own email client Apps.


If you need to generate an App Specific Password, you’ll need to log-in to your Mail Providers account management webpage - using a web browser - and generate the Password from the appropriate account security page.
