Hi, Joeepp,

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities. If we understand, your Apple Watch does not seem to record your Respiratory Rate while sleeping. We're happy to help!

First, make sure you meet the below requirements:

  • Apple Watch Series 3 or later
  • watchOS 8 or later
  • The user must be at least 18 years old

Once those are confirmed, make sure the Track Sleep with Apple Watch option is enabled using the Watch app on your companion iPhone. Just tap My Watch > Sleep > Track Sleep with Apple Watch.

Next, use the following recommendations from Track your sleep on Apple Watch and use Sleep on iPhone - Apple Support to ensure you get the most accurate readings:

"To get the most accurate results when wearing your watch to sleep:

  • Turn on Charging Reminders. On your iPhone, open the Watch app and tap the My Watch tab, then tap Sleep. Tap Charging Reminders to turn on a reminder on your Apple Watch to charge before your Wind Down time. If your watch battery dies, it won't track your sleep data.

  • Make sure that you're wearing your Apple Watch at a comfortable fit. If your watch is too loose, the accelerometer might register too much movement during your natural sleep."

Best!

Thanks for letting us know your Respiratory Rate still doesn't record as expected.

Next, we recommend the following steps:

  1. Restart both the Apple Watch: How to restart your Apple Watch - Apple Support and its paired iPhone: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support
  2. Check for, and install, the latest watchOS: Update your Apple Watch - Apple Support and iOS: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
  3. Unpair your watch from the iPhone: Unpair and erase your Apple Watch - Apple Support and set it up again:Set up your Apple Watch - Apple Support

If the issue continues after that, please get in touch with Apple Support directly. You can do that here: Get Support.

Have a great day.
