What to do with my old iPad 2?

I have two iPad 2 devices (very good condition), just wanted to know if it is any useful before I garbage it?

  • They could be placed around your home and used for web surfing. I would go as far as to assume websites still work, so Facebook, YouTube, and others would still be viewable in Safari.
  • Can you use the Podcasts app on those iPads?
  • Calendar, email, Reminders and Notes should all still work, so office work can be still be done
  • The Messages and Facetime apps should still work, so you can still communicate
  • Safari should still be able to open News websites


There is still much life left in them :)

In addition to the fact that those iPad models were firstly released 10 years ago, the limit is the IOS version they can run = 9.3.5 (wifi) 9.3.6 (wifi+cellular), because of hardware (CPU/RAM) incompatibility.

Many 3rd party apps (the vast majority) require a more recent iOS version.
