Mac mini M1 macOS update 12.1 restart fail

I have Mac mini M1, downloaded MacOS 12.1 update. On restart obtained a login screen. Logged in, no sign of installation activity. Repeat, same.

Please advise

Thank you for that.

However, I did get the system to load and behave after I shut the mini down and pulled the power plug for 30 seconds. Plug in, restart, normal boot.

Then clicked the restart in the Software Update panel, entered the password in the popup and proceeded through a normal install of 12.1

Case closed...

Possibly you have corrupt installation of MacOS 12.1. Suggest you reinstall it.
