[Apple Watch] Walkie Talkie & Facetime do not work if contact has multiple phone numbers

I saw there are hundreds of reports on Apple Communities & Reddit about WalkieTalkie invitations failing.

I found a case where the invitation will fail if your contact has multiple phone numbers. You'll notice in this case that FaceTime from your watch will also fail, and your FaceTime history on your phone will show that the number does not exist.

here's how to fix the Walkie Talkie invite & FaceTime feature on your Apple Watch for contacts that have multiple numbers.

I found a likely issue: contacts with multiple phones. The issue is that walkie talkie (which uses Facetime) is trying to call your contact on the wrong phone number. Here's how I fixed it.

  1. Delete any walkietalkie invitations to your friend
  2. On your phone, initiate a facetime audio call to your friend
  3. On the watch, use the dialer app and go to history. Re-dial the previous Facetime call from your history on your watch and connect. Note : Make sure you only call from history. If you try to call from the contact , start over.
  4. Send the invitation from walkie talkie. Now that facetime uses the correct number, it should be instant.

If you want to test that this bug is affecting you, try to make a facetime audio call from your watch. It will fail without dialing. Your phone facetime history will show that your watch tried to call the wrong number.

I know it's complicated, but that's the bug.
