Junk mail still happening after disabling it in preferences on iCloud mail

My mac mail is still putting stuff in the junk folder after disabling it in preferences for my iCloud mail.

How do I completely stop and remove the junk mail feature?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 12.0

Clearly the iCloud mail server filters what it considers to be junk and sends it to your junk folder - there is nothing you can do about that. If you don't like it, then as you say you can stop using your iCloud mail account.

But you could set up a rule in your macOS Mail client to move junk mail to your inbox:

DrDubya,

With regards to the junk mail filter; if your email service filters junk mail at the server level (which iCloud does) then the settings you're adjusting in the Mail app may not necessarily apply since those actions are taken before the message arrives in your application of choice. With that being said, you wouldn't be able to disable the automatic junk mail filters on an iCloud account.

You can, however, teach iCloud to handle junk mail more intuitively. iCloud actively learns from your email habits so over time, you can help the service understand which messages are junk and which ones you don't want filtered out. You can learn more here: Identify and filter junk mail in iCloud.

Best regards.

Hey there, DrDubya!

Thanks so much for using Apple Support Communities.

Managing junk mail is a pretty crucial way to keep your inbox nice and organized without having to deal with spam. But if it's not filtering the way you expect it to, that can definitely lead to confusion. We're happy to help.

To start, we want to share this link which has a ton of really good information on how you can manage your preferences in Mail on macOS: Change Junk Mail preferences in Mail on Mac That also includes steps on how you can disable junk mail filtering entirely. We do want to note, as the article mentions; if your email account filters junk mail on the server side, then disabling this feature may not stop junk mail from being filtered out.

We hope this does the trick for you!

Cheers.

It is an iCloud email address and iCloud doesn't give any options like this that i can see.

I would assume any options set in "Mail" would be reflected.

I want to stop Junk as it is useless. I have changed the settings to do so. It still puts stuff in junk.

I need an Apple solution to the problem.

Thanks for trying maybe you didn't fully understand the question. That's on me.

Hopefully this clears up the scenario for any other suggestions.
