Howdy!
Weird thing.
Ordered MacBook Air, gets shipped via DHL to USA.
Makes it as far as Houston, then DHL tells me Customs put a stop on it.
Apple says they are investigating and if I do not get it in 8 days they will send another.
So why would Customs stop a new laptop?
Are they going to fiddle with it or what?

Because that is the job of Customs. They inspect items coming into the country from overseas. Every item, computer or otherwise, has to go through Customs. If you want to know exactly why or how they do their job you will have to ask Customs.
