Untrusted certificate

Hey there,

Since September 2021, I have a problem with the untrusted certificate. It keeps on appearing on my screen at least 2 times a day saying like “hey, you have an untrusted certificate on your phone”, but can’t do anything with that. I can’t delete that or stop it from appearing on my screen.

I am sending the screenshots with the information about that certificate. Please help me out how to delete that, because it annoys me a lot.

Thank you!

Hi guys!

I contacted Apple support and we resolved the issue. In Calendar settings there was some fishing certificate added. Just go to to Settings- Calendar - Accounts. And most likely you will be able to see the fishing account added somewhere there. I hope that will help!

Hello montiflu,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you're seeing a notification of an untrusted certificate on your iPhone. Is this a managed device through an employer or a school? This article can help.

Trust manually installed certificate profiles in iOS and iPadOS

We look forward to hearing back ffrom you with the results and wish you the best!

Hi Apple support,
I just go this pop up as well started today. This is a personal iPhone 12 and iOS 14.7.1
i am going to try updating software and revisit this post. But, why am I getting it?? Is it a phishing certification?
thanks

That’s a LetsEncrypt three-month certificate, a quite-common provider, and of the usual duration. Expired, obviously.

Are you possibly interested in buying or selling domains, with an app from that domain-sales provider?

Do you have any profiles loaded?

I’d also suggest updating to iOS 15.2.1, as all of iOS 14 is falling off support.

My girlfriend got the exact same. She has updated her phone from ios 15.2.2 to 15.3 now, but it's still there. I suggested emptying Chrome-cache and logging out and in her mailaccounts. Anyone got anything else to try and fix this? Her phone is not managed at all, it's a private device and she's got no profiles loaded. She's also not interested in buying/selling domains and has no app from a domain-sales provider.

Edit: the first notification she got was this one. It's in Dutch and translates to: "Server Identity can't be verified. The identity of 'znews-live.com' can't be verified."

That znews-live domain is parked at and is available for sale from the domain reseller mentioned earlier. Whatever website contents or app or tool you’re accessing appears to be defunct, or has migrated domains without maintaining continuity.

This is a common pattern for a spam calendar that you were offered (whether by a website prompt, or a link in an email or such) and accepted, and that spam calendar website has since timed out (as certificates increasingly expire every three months), and the spammers moved on to other domains.

Subscribed calendars are usually used for coordinating with schools or sports teams, or for meetings or schedules for local businesses or organizations that you’re affiliated with.

Spammers and scammers offer calendars filled with advertisements, many of the calendar alerts claiming “virus” or “hacker” or other bogusness.
