Can’t Change Maps Voice

I recently updated to iOS 15.1 and was overjoyed to hear a non-Siri voice begin narrating my maps. Interested to see what other voices there were, I went to Settings > Accessibility > Spoken Content > Voices (why did this have to get so complicated??) and tried out a couple new voices. Upon selecting Voice 4 (default Siri I think) something changed and Apple Maps stuck with the classic Siri voice I’d come to loathe.

To try to unstick this and get back to the new voice I’d enjoyed so much I tried the following:


Reset - nothing changed


Hard Reset - still nothing


Uninstalled Apple Maps and hard reset - no change AND it still says maps is using the voice despite there being no map application on the device.


Reinstalled Apple Maps - made no difference so uninstalled it again


Updated to 15.2 still without a map application and hard reset the device - still says maps is using the voice!

Does anyone have a solution for this?


Attached is a photo of the voice selection menu as it is currently. I want to just delete “Voice 4” and be done with default Siri.

From your post, it sounds like you are experiencing an issue with Voice 4 for Siri in the Maps app. We’re glad that you reached out to the Apple Support Communities. We want to try and help you find the answers you need.


To clarify, are you following these steps when you attempt to change the voice for Siri: Change Siri voice or language. If so, and you still have an issue, you may want to Contact Apple for support and service, as you have already done plenty of wonderful steps on your own.
