ipad memory loss

Since ios15 my iPad keeps running out of memory, so apps slow down or won’t open. I have an app called Battery Saver which sometimes shows the memory at 2 or 3%. It frees it up and everything goes back to normal. I have searched internet, but for some reason, in fact even when I put this question in, there seems to be confusion(?) thinking I mean storage, but I mean MEMORY.

This is particularly bad when using iMovie which grinds to a halt. Is this all down to ios15 and Apples plan that we all upgrade??

can I go back to ios14?

Last question first… you cannot restore an earlier version of iPadOS than is currently installed. As such, having updated to iPadOS15, you’ll not be able to return to iPadOS14 or earlier.

Your early iPad Pro 9.7” has 2GB of LPDDR4 RAM. More recent models of iPad Pro have 4-8GB RAM depending upon model - the most recent 2021 M1 models with 1TB/2TB storage having 16GB. The current iPad Air has 4GB.

It follows that system performance is in part dependent upon RAM - and your iPad Pro has the minimum required to run iPadOS.

Point taken, however I did think ios would release memory, but as you said it is perhaps underpowered. What is interesting is the way Apple most times adds security updates to system updates. For me personally my use of my iPad has not changed since I bought it, but it seems the updates have slowly made it less useful. Interestingly, when I think about it, this is the same for my iMac. I recently bought a new 24inch M1. Again my use has not changed in, we’ll probably 20 years. Yes some bells and whistles but … so the security updates are to help the system you’ve got or the new one.

back to the original query - thanks
