apple music equalizer does not work

I've posted previously with no answers forthcoming. I've seen all manner of workarounds from setting universal EQ settings or setting songs individually, but I simply cannot get it to work on my 2019 16" MacBook pro running latest OS 12.0.1. This has been manifest since I purchased the machine, through countless software updates and new OS versions. I cannot get it to work at all ever under any circumstances. I looked to see if somehow I could re-install Music but that seems not possible best I can see. Any ideas out there?

Hi Brian,

Your response makes no sense. I would like the equalizer to work period. I know how to operate the software and I don't want the equalizer to work with anything other than the music app (nee iTunes). I have been using apple computers since the early 80's and have implemented apple technology in enterprise settings, so I'm not a nube that needs a link to " how to adjust the sound quality". I need a solution to a software failure that has so far eluded every solution that has been offered. So I'm well beyond basics. I've not seen others that describe my exact situation but I've seen many posts that indicate I'm not alone in struggling with the equalizer in general. Something is not allowing the music app to see the equalizer at all on my system and despite all efforts to operate the software as designed the equalizer does not work. Full stop. If you have an actual idea as to how this might be solved, I'd welcome them.

Hello kip schultz! Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

We understand that you want to control the equalizer for your Mac, and have these settings apply across all your apps. We'd like to look into this with you to see how we can help.

Apple does provide an equalizer option for the Music app, as seen here: Adjust the sound quality in Music on Mac. The following resource can also help with sound output settings for your Mac: Change the sound output settings on Mac

The App Store may provide an option for more control over sound settings for your Mac.

Make it a great day!
