Why is my messages coming up green even when I have I message on and texting another iPhone

- iMessage - blue bubble + says it is an iMessage. Sent over WiFi or cellular-data
- SMS/MMS - green bubble + it says it is a Text Message (SMS) or a text+media message (MMS). Sent over a data plan.
