Can I make a desktop on my macbook air that is blank

I've saved photos for inspiration. Is it possible to make a second desktop and just have photos on it? When I make a 2nd desktop in Mission Control it looks the same as my original when I click on it. I guess I'm looking for a blank desktop.

What do you mean by "blankl" exactly? If you don't want folders on your desktop, save them elsewhere. You can set your desktop display (wallpaper) to a solid color. You can hide both the upper menu and the launchpad if you want to. They will reappear when the mouse pointer moves to upper or lower screen limit. I do that on our streaming MBP to reduce screen clutter and distraction during a movie or TV show.

Blank how?

When you make a second desktop it starts off blank, empty, as in there are no apps or windows on it. You can open apps on it, and move windows to it from another desktop.

But the Desktop “folder” that contains files you see on the dekstop is only one, and is shown on all desktops.

The desktop is not designed to be a bulletin board of stuff. Its a folder and you can create other sub folders in it to hold different stuff. But you can’t have different Desktop folders for different desktops.

Thanks. So how is this any different from just having a bunch of tabs open on the first desktop?

AND I just tried opening a new web page in #2 but my computer reverted to #1 where safari was already open....

Discovered this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3hUk0zsxc4 which was helpful, but his desktops are all blank. How does he start out with that? My desktop is jam packed.

Thanks for your patience with me. :-)

Because you can have different Apps and different windows of the same App on different desktops.

You can go to the other desktop, and control+click on the Safari icon, and click on New Window, to get a completely independent Safari window on that desktop which is not tied to any other windows or tabs you have open on another desktop.

He simply does not store a ton of files in his desktop folder, nor does he have any system icons like hard drives or external storage icons showing up there. Basically, if you want a clean desktop, don't save stuff to the desktop. Use folders in your Documents folder to organize your files and pictures instead of just throwing everything on the Desktop.

If you open the Finder, and then click on "Desktop" on the side panel, or in the Go Menu at the top it will open the Desktop folder. All the files you see on your desktop are saved there. If you don't want to see them on the desktop screen, then don't save them there.

You can of course create folders and sort your files into those folders. Then the folders will be seen on the desktop screen.

For example in my Desktop folder I have 2 sub folders. The current project I am working on now, and a relocated items folder which the system creates automatically.

That's the only thing aside form my hard drive icon and my external drive that I see on my desktop.

If you want to have different things on different desktops then consider making folders and labeling them so you now what everything corresponds to.
