Wired keyboard for iPad

My wired Apple keyboard used to work with my 2015/2016 iPad Pros, with the simple Apple Lightning to USB adapter, when they were still running iOS 10.3.3, but since upgrading to iPadOS 14, it apears that this functionality is gone.

An Apple wired keyboard WILL work IF you use the Apple Lightning to USB-3 camera adapter and plug your iPad into power and into your external power adapter.

I just typed this reply from an older Apple wired keyboard with the Apple Lightning to USB-3 camera adapter with my iPad plugged into my Apple power/charging adapter block.

You need to have your iPad plugged into an external power source for your Apple wired USB keyboard to work!

The adapter needs power through on the 10.5 lightning connector.

never heard about iOS device supporting mice and keyboard by other means than bluetooth and the iPad smart connector
