Installing Itunes on Windows PC drive other than C

Due to running out of space on my C drive I need to install Itunes on a secondary drive. How do I do this? Attempts to change the drive keep defaulting to C.

Windows, Windows 10

Hello dct1954,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

It sounds like you'd like to install iTunes on an external drive. We'll be glad to assist.

Would you like to move your iTunes media to the external drive? You can complete this by following: Change where iTunes files are stored on PC

Songs, videos, and other data will take up a substantial amount of storage space on your computer. You can still sync your devices while the files are on the external drive.

Take care.

Although the installer should allow installation of some components on a different drive I would recommend installing the application on the system drive. It isn't that large. What does tend to take up space is the library, and any iOS device backup sets. See Make a split library portable for advice on organizing the library on secondary storage and the section Relocate iOS device backups to move any backup data. Note that even when iOS backup data has been relocated iTunes will still check free space on the system drive. If it doesn't see enough space it won't backup, even though the data is going to end up on your preferred drive.
