What to do when an AirTag is detected and you can’t find it? It shows it has tracked my route all day.

Vidnor,

Thank you for the additional information. If you are not hearing the sound playing, the AirTag may no longer be with you. If you cannot hear the sound to help you locate it, you will need to look through your belongings or see if your receive another alert. Multiple alerts may help you isolate where it is located. For example, if you get two alerts, look in your belongings that you had in both locations. For example, if you get an alert when driving and then another when in a cafe away from your car, then you can safely eliminate the car as the location of the tag.

You can also disable the AirTag and stop sharing your location. See step 4 from the "If you see an "Item Detected Near You" message" section in the referenced article.

Cheers.

Vidnor,

Thank you for that information. Unfortunately, if you are not able to hear the tone from the AirTag, you will have to physically search for it. You can use the process of elimination to help with that process. By keeping track of what you have with you when you are notified that the AirTag is nearby, you can narrow down where the AirTag may be located.

Best of luck.

I suppose I might not have been entirely clear in my initial post!

My apologies!

As per my previous post- I cannot find the AirTag. As such, there is nothing in the information provided by apple in that article or any of the multitudes or articles based off of that information that is helpful to me.

I cannot hear it when I choose the option to make it play a sound, and it has not gone away.

I need a way to disable it remotely or a more useful method to discover its location, realistically.
