External Mic for closed MacBook Air

I have my new MBA set up as a desktop with external monitor, keyboard, mouse and webcam. During a FaceTime call, I get video from the webcam and I hear the other party through the MBA speakers. But, the other party cannot hear me. After research, I found that the Logitech HD Pro C920 does not play well with the new M1 chip models. So I purchased an external microphone which works well with dictation but does not solve my mic input issue with FaceTime. Note that in my setup, the MBA is closed. Any thoughts one how to get the mic to work with FaceTime?? Thx

Hello Mbanovice,

It sounds like your microphone isn't working while on FaceTime calls with your Mac closed. We understand how important this is to you and we are here to help.

Let's check the Microphone int settings with this setup and see if its available: Change the sound input settings on Mac

Which macOS version are you currently using? Let's also test your microphone with other apps to see if the issue persists.

Cheers!
