Virus

So I had this link, which was linked to a adult website. I clicked out immediately and quickly as I could. However, on ANOTHER tab it said that I had a virus and when I cleared safari it crashed. Was this fake?

It's a scam. A message warning of malware will only be legitimate if you manually started a scanner or uploaded a file to a website.
