Notification Sound customisation

This subject has been raised for a number of years now. I've found references back to 2017. Why are Apple so reluctant to allow us to change the sound for a notification. We have so many apps now all sending notifications but you cannot distinguish one or the other because they all sound the same. If my camera triggers at home, why can I not have a different sound from that of my doorbell so when the phone is in my pocket I know immediately what the notification refers too. I also think in comparison to Android the sound library is pretty poor. Come on Apple it can't be that difficult to allow us to choose a notification sound for various apps.
