Hi, Osito01, maybe i can help you… 1) do a reset smc/pmu then zap pram 3-4 times on startup.. how to do that can be found at this link: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3603

seeing as how you are trying to start up from a Snow leopard dvd, and assuming your cd/dvd drive is good, reboot, holding down the ‘C’ key on your keyboard and insert the dvd into the drive, label side up… keep holding down the “C” key until you see the language selection screen… you may be able to get to the startup manager by holding down the “option” key ( “alt” if you’re using a Windows keyboard) when you reboot, assuming that you have show cd’s/dvd’s, show connected drives/removeable drives ticked off in Finder preferences, the dvd should show up, and you can use the right and left arrows on your keyboard to select the thing/drive you want to boot from then click on it to get it to do that.. your model of iMac doesn’t support internet recovery…( option+command/apple+r)… you could try either booting from the dvd or regular recovery( apple+R) … depending on what mac os was installed on it previously, which I don’t know… so i can only give you general suggestions…
