I just updated my iPad Pro to iOS 15.2. Now when go to Messages, I only see 3 pinned people. Previously I had 8. (This didn’t happen when I just updated my iPhone.) How can I find the missing 5 pinned people?

Hello Kestrel55,

Apple Support Communities is a great place for help with Messages on your iPad. From the description, it sounds as though you’re unable to locate pinned messages. To confirm, were you able to scroll through your messages and locate the message threads? If so, you can pin the messages again by pressing and holding on the message thread, or swiping from left to right across the message thread. This information can also be found in the following article.

Use Messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If the message threads are missing, do you recall having Messages in iCloud enabled, and do the threads appear on another device? If so, you can re-enable Messages in iCloud within Settings > [your name] > iCloud, then tap the grey toggle next to Messages. If you didn’t use Messages in iCloud previously, or don’t have the messages on another device you wouldn’t be able to retrieve those messages via this method. The article below provides more details about Messages in iCloud.

The next option would be to restore to a backup if Messages in iCloud was not enabled. Please be aware that anything new that's been added to your device since the date of the backup will be overwritten by the contents included in the backup you choose to use. You can find the steps for restoring to a backup in the article below.
