Files names get automatically endings with GMT + 1 (or 2) and are after that corrupted?

Why do my FCPX files get automatically endings with GMT 1 (or 2). When I try to open them then I mostly get a note with; The document “20211101_1319_GMT+1” could not be opened. The file name is invalid.

When I can open these files with GMT + 1 endings then I cannot close the library anymore and data is lost.

My suspicion is that this can be caused by the fact that I have copied the Library files from the Final Cut Backups on my external drives (as extra backup). And that I have opened these FCPX libraries from my external drives.

As you understand am I a beginner but really hope to get help because I am not able to work with my projects since October and get very frustrated....

Hopefully can I get an answer soon.

Best rgds.

These files are the FCP library backups that are automatically created every 15 minutes or so when you have a library open.

It should be fine to copy these backups to another drive. How is this external drive formatted? If an SSD, it should be APFS, if it's a spinning disk, it should be HFS+.

Here's some documentation on FCP backups. https://support.apple.com/guide/final-cut-pro/restore-a-library-ver85d95b8a9/10.6/mac/11.5.1

I don't understand why you're renaming or worrying about the FCP backup files.

Whenever FCP crashes or starts acting strangely an easy thing to try is resetting the preferences. Hold option and command while launching FCP and choose Delete Preferences. It will open the default Untitled library. Re-open the library you were working on, set the preferences back to the way you want (disable background rendering, etc.) and see if the issue has been resolved.

If the behavior continues, can you tell us exactly what you're doing, step-by-step? Where are you storing the library you are working on? Post screen shots to help us understand what you're doing.

Hi, now I have format my Samsung T5 SSD drive from EXFAT to APFS. Changed all library names with ending GMT + 1 (or 2). Reset preferences in FCPX and deleted and loaded FCPX in again. But still do the projects /libraries not work as they should. When I want to close FCPX and push the red button on the left top corner then FCPX is blocked and I have to force quite I tried different times). And the file name changed one’s in the FCPX backup libraries to GMT + 1 after I did all the above things.

This feels very frustrating and hope to get some more good advice.

Greetings

Thx. again for your help. I have again reset FCPX preferences as you told. I see until now no more GMT + 1 (or 2) endings 👍. But still have an issue when I press the red button to leave FCPX then the program is blocked and can only come out if FCPX by forced quitting. When I go out by Quit Final Cut Pro then everything works until now.

You should just use Command-Q to quit the application. That is the standard way in macOS.

The red button just closes the window. Only a few single-window applications actually quit when closing their (only) window. System Preferences is one such example. Applications that have multiple windows, like, for example, Safari, Mail, Word, and the overwhelming majority, do NOT quit by pressing the red button.

FCP is kind of a single window application, so maybe it quits, or not. I am not near my mac and I never tried the red button, so I wonder if it is really stuck or working as expected. I will have to check later.
