The touch screen on an iPhone (or iPad) does not have adjustable sensitivity.

Yes, a screen protector will make your screen less sensitive. In my experience, they are not necessary.

Don't Use Screen Solvent:
Did you apply screen solvent to your iPhone (i.e. Liquid-Armour)? If so, then it could take months to get it all syncronized to the correct spot when tapping your device's screen in a certain location. As an alternative, I use an OtterBox. You should consider the same.

For Future Reference:
If it every comes down to a damaged screen, then on the replacement, use an OtterBox. A screen protector or solvent seems to be getting in the way, when it comes to sensibility.
