Blank Mail screen and email icons along bottom: fix?
When the Mail app is open on iPad with iOS 14, I get this screen. How did this happen? How do I avoid it? How do I fix it?

Have you checked to ensure that your email account is still configured on your iPad?
Settings > Mail > Accounts
