My Magic Keyboard keys don’t all work as assigned any longer. The ?button produces a under line mark and most all the other special keys produce another Symbol…..only the letters and numbers wok correctly. How do I fix this?

Go to settings > general > keyboard > hardware keyboard and tap over at the right edge. Make sure the layout you want is checked (and not "automatic" or something else).
My guess is you may have the Spanish mapping active instead of US or ABC or British.
