It sounds like you're trying to recover a WhatsApp backup that was deleted on accident. WhatsApp chat history is included in an iCloud backup when this setting is enabled: WhatsApp Help Center - How to back up to iCloud
If you have not yet done so, verify that an iCloud backup exists following the steps here: WhatsApp Help Center - How to restore your chat history
If you do not see a backup, it is likely unrecoverable and you'll need to make a new backup.
