Getting kicked out of my Sky Q when logging in with the Apple ID on the Mobile.

When trying to login to watch the Apple TV programs on my Sky Q. by using the Apple app, it redirects me to scan the QR code and login on my mobile phone. However, as soon as i do this, I get a "you were signed out of the Apple TV app, Enter password for Apple ID [email address} to sign in again" message on the Sky box and I'm in a catch 22. Try to log in again on the Sky box app, login on the mobile and being kicked out of the Apple app on the Sky box. Rinse - repeat.


I am being logged in to my Apple ID on the laptop at the same time so it doesn't seem to be an issue being logged into multiple devices either. It just doesn't allow me to use the Apple ID on the Sky box.


The device I'm using is the Sky Q box, not sure if it's the X-wing(ES130) this name/version doesn't ring a bell, however it says i'm logged in to this device, here in this case so it must be recognising this on my account.

Signing in with device (scanning QR code) works with Apple mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch). If you don’t have one of those, then you should probably choose the manual sign-in.

Hi again

It workimg properly now.

I di the traditional way of fixing it.

Deleted it all (the apps - including itunes etc), updated everything and re-installed it all and it's now working fine....

The Sky Q Box AppleTV+ app now remembers me and isn't asking me to create an apple id in each time I use it...

So thank you for suggesting contacting Apple support - but I though if this was a common problem, lots of people would be complaining loudly - so I guesses that something was off with the way I'd set it up.

Hi I have a similar problem...


I have sky Tv on a Sky Q box.


There is an app available called Apple TV+ on the Sky Q box.


I went in to the Apple TV+ app and agreed to signup.


It said to create an Apple ID – I went to the apple website

and did so.


and  I set up the payment/billing

information etc for apple TV+ on my apple id account.


(I do not have any mobile devices or a smartphone so used my

windows PC).


I then went back to the Sky Qbox to load up the Apple TV+

app and was told to sign in via a mobile device or via https://activate.apple.com on my windows

PC.


The activate activate.apple sikte then said it needed the Itunes

program on my computer in order to work… and gave me a link to download it –

which I did and it installed happily using the apple id and password I had set

up originally.

It then accepted the activate.apple info and told me I had

two devices registered as able to access apple TV+ - my windows pc and my SkyQ

box (using the correct IP and MAC addresses).


However – now everytime I try and watch any program on

the SkyQ box AppleTV+ app – it says that I have to activate my device again and

log in again (on my PC) and gives me a new four character code to provide to activate.apple.com

to allow it to pair with the SkyQbox

Which is clearly insane and very annoying for a number of

reasons – not least that I have to boot up my pc  - log in to the activate.apple.com – provide the

“new” four character code and then get a phone call from apple giving me my 6

digit security code….

If this can’t be fixed then I might as well close my new Apple

account…


I should mention that there are also apps on the Sky Q box

for Netflix, Disney Plus, Amazon Prime, BBC I-player etc on the Sky Q box and

they all work perfectly sanely – on first ever use one provides one’s security codes/passwords

– some send a hardware link to pair the SkyQbox with one’s account – and that’s

it – it’s fully set up and the apps can be loaded and used whenever one wants…  

(PS I also have a smart TV – and checked out the apple TV+

app on them and it seems to work in exactly the same way – ie it doesn’t seem

able to remember that the AppleTV+ app has been activated and refuses to

remember the hardware device….)
