firewire 800 adaptor to 2019 MacBook Pro

Is there an adaptor that will allow me to get photos/files off of my Cobra Slim 30 GB 4200RPM Firewire HD? I think I used it around 2003!

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

You'll need a couple of adapters as there is no single adapter to go from Firewire 800 to USB-C / Thunderbolt 3.

  1. Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter - Apple
  2. Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter - Apple

Do you know if there is somewhere that I could take the drive and get the contents off of it?

An Apple authorized service provider may be able to help you out. However, with the adapters I linked to above, it should be straight forward to access the drive from your current Mac. It will likely be more expensive if you go the service provider root than just getting the 2 adapters suggested.

Here are the links to the 2 adapters you will need again, click the blue text below.
