My phone is ‘Disabled’ and I tried restoring it using iTunes but that’s not working as it gives an error. Can I use ‘Find my Phone’ to erase my phone and restore from back up?

Follow the steps in this support document. If you forgot your iPhone passcode - Apple Support If you are receiving an error, please identify the text of the error, or provide a screenshot of the error.
Did you click on Update or Restore? You should be able to just choose Restore to get the device working again, otherwise you will need to take a look at this to determine what you may be having troubles with that it can't download. Updating iOS: common issues and solutions - Apple Community
it goes into this long wait with message ‘downloading software’ and then error stating that software could not be downloaded.
