Clear gray storage space at iOS 15.2

Hi,

What is gray space what is called iOS?

Is it possible to clear somehow?

iOS-Apps-Photos-Media-System Data

All pictures are deleted and System data doesn't take space, so I can't say what is that iOS gray area?

Using iOS 15.2

iPhone 11 Pro

Okey, I made some testing my self, I took backup to Mac, and shows same space than iOS:

Then cleared my iPhone totally to factory settings, started phone and uploaded my backup back to phone as big it was before not much space left.

Here what happened after phone reset and loading backup back to phone:

Here is again before reset and backup:

Some reason backup is now smaller than when I made it, so I lost some of that gray iOS area, but I didn't delete anything and all same apps are back and settings.

Also now my system data is larger than before backup, also iOS space is little bigger some reason:

Here is again before when I had less space at phone but System Data was almost nothing:

Here is Mac screen after backup is loaded back in same state:

Maybe some bug and system updates make mess inside data, also backup maybe some reason don't copy all information, or there is error in showing free space, can't say what makes these differences, but maybe something is bugged as after same data and backup is loaded, I get much bigger System Data space readings.

Hope this helps if some one has lot of gray iOS space and want to try clear that, this helped me quite lot.

You are wrong system data means documents & data from all apps including iOS iOS it’s using 9.02 gb and system data 10 MEGABYTES

see my iPhone now is taking more system data because I have over 50 apps no all iPhones takes the same amount of the iOS storage because they have more features my id iPhone XR and others is taking less or more of iOS and system data

Last questions and comment I won’t stay here arguing with someone that don’t understand, all apps using documents & data such is cache cookies where do you think they are store? Cookies isn’t just from safari

take a look what is documents & data on iPhone and why is increasing time to time and good bye get the instructions book to learn more about apple operating systems

Yes totally wrong , the Gray area means iOS and NO all iPhone users having the same , look my screenshot of my iPhone is taking more than yours it doesn’t matter if you delete all your pictures because they are all in iCloud but the documents & data from the all apps including cookies iPhone logs and analytics files that are stored in your iPhone where you think they are ? Take a look of your iOS gray area that is iOS again iOS 9.02 GB,,, I just scroll down a part of the amount data from my iPhone

When I reset the iPhone SE previously mentioned, the same happened to me. However, within just a few minutes, I was able to film it increasing. The only problem is, I cant upload it due to it having been on my iPad on my old Apple ID. However that is completely normal and within a small amount of time it will be the same size or bigger.

Also, Ozzie1910’s points are correct, theres no point arguing. An apple specialist would probably tell you something similar.

As well as this, newer phones probably take up a bit more storage due to more features e.g Portrait mode in camera so the storage the iOS takes in my iPhone 7 is probably going to be a bit less than your iPhone 11.
