I just got my new MacBook that has Monterey OS on it, and now when I get a banner notification, the app icon has a white circle with a line through it (all apps' icons have this on it; see the two examples attached). How can I change this? It wasn't like this on my other MacBook.

Both pictures with the white icon and bar through it appear to be images to be Application that may not yet have been given permission to offer full Badge Notifications.

Check in Notification and Focus of System Preferences and look for the corresponding icon appearing in above pics supplied and configure the type and extend of Notification it can offer.

Same thing here. Were you able to figure it out? I just received my brand spankin' new M1 Mac Mini and it is fully updated to MacOS 12.1.

Mail.app and Outlook 2019 has permission for notifications and badges, but I receive the line through their icons on my machine as well. I have modified every setting for notifications on both apps in a series of tests, restarted a couple restarts, and ran disk first aid and I found that:

  1. Turning notifications off successfully removes notifications for these apps.
  2. Turning the notification back on and setting it to "none" results in a badge notification for either app.
  3. Turning the notification on and setting it to "Alert" results in a badge notification for either app.

I checked console and grabbed the microsoft and notification entries for a badge notification and found the following...

Thanks
